What is Daropa?
Daropa provides a complete, managed digital workplace: files, email, calendar, video conferencing, chat and an office suite in one environment. We handle hosting, management, security and updates, so your organisation doesn’t have to. Everything runs on European infrastructure, under European law.
Where is our data stored?
Your data is stored on servers within the European Union, with an established European provider. There is no US parent organisation involved, and no telemetry is sent to the United States. As a result, your data is not subject to the US CLOUD Act.
What is Nextcloud?
Nextcloud is open-source collaboration software with European roots, comparable to SharePoint, OneDrive or Google Drive, but fully under your own control. The source code is public and verifiable. Daropa hosts and manages Nextcloud for you, so you get the benefits without the technical complexity of self-management. Read why organisations choose Nextcloud.
Does it work with Microsoft Office files?
Yes. You can open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) directly in your browser, even collaboratively and simultaneously. If you use Office locally, you can also open files there as usual. Complex macros are not always fully supported; we’ll map this out with you in advance.
Is Daropa suitable for GDPR, BIO and NEN 7510?
The environment is set up for organisations bound by GDPR, BIO or NEN 7510: hosting within the EU, encrypted connections, daily backups and no data transfers outside Europe. A data processing agreement is part of the collaboration. The final responsibility for compliance remains with your organisation; we’re happy to help you meet these requirements.
How does the switch from Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace work?
Your environment will be ready within one working day. We’ll migrate your files, email, calendar and contacts for you. Not everything has a one-to-one equivalent, such as Power Automate flows or customisations in SharePoint. That’s why we’ll honestly map out in advance what can be transferred and what will work differently, and plan the migration so your daily work continues uninterrupted.
Can employees also work on their phone and laptop?
Yes. There are apps for iOS and Android and desktop programs for Windows, macOS and Linux that automatically synchronise files. You can work via your browser anywhere, with an encrypted connection and optional two-factor authentication.
Can we log in with our existing account (single sign-on)?
Single sign-on is included in the Pro package. Employees can log in with their existing organisational account via standards such as SAML or OpenID Connect. Would you like this with a smaller package? Contact us, and we’ll see what’s possible.
What does it cost and am I tied to a contract?
You pay a fixed amount per month, depending on the number of users: Start from €65, Team from €155 or Pro €385 per month in our European cloud. If you want the workplace on a DAROPA Box PC at your location, we’ll provide a quote on request. There is no setup fee, and after a minimum term of 3 months, you can cancel monthly. If you pay annually, you receive a 5% discount.
Can we take our data with us if we stop?
Always. Daropa works with open standards, and you can fully export all your files, email, calendars and contacts at any time. No lock-in.
